Travel season is here and I’m loving Olay Ultra Moisture In-Shower Body Lotion. It has worked wonders in keeping my skin moisturized while on the road.
Without fail, when on vacation, my skin gets dry, itchy and inflamed from hard water. It doesn’t matter where I travel or when I travel (summer, winter, etc), my skin freaks out. I even use the ridiculously expensive Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Body Wash and Lotion (the green packaging) with all the calming ingredients yet that does not provide a sufficient barrier to protect against hard water.
I’m never faced with dry, itchy skin at home because I use a Sprite Water Filter which my skin loves. Although the water filter has been great for my hair and skin, a part of me feels it has lowered my tolerance for anything other than soft water. Enough of the ramble, let’s talk Olay Ultra Moisture In-Shower Body Moisturizer Lotion with Shea Butter.
Cost: apparently price and size varies by store and market because I’ve purchased this multiple times from various locations (Walmart, Target & Walgreens) and the pricing and size differs from store to store.
Product Claims: Olay Ultra Moisture In-Shower Body Moisturizer Lotion with Shea Butter is a rinse-off body lotion that stops dry skin in its tracks after one use and improves overall skin hydration after five uses.
How To Use: Use your normal bath and body products to cleanse your body. Afterwards, dispense a small amount of Olay Ultra Moisture In-Shower Body Moisturizer Lotion with Shea Butter into your hands and smooth onto wet skin. Rinse off and pat the skin dry with a towel. Note: do not use it on your feet because of the slip and fall risk. It also states this on the packaging so you’ve been warned.
Assessment: Just as my husband and I was checking in a hotel a few weeks ago, I regretted not bringing my sample of Olay In-Shower Body Lotion that I received in a magazine insert. I wanted to give it go while on vacation to see how it would hold up to the hard water effects of hotel water. Off to Wal-Mart we went looking for Olay.
I did not use the Olay In-Shower Body Lotion on the first night because I wanted to see how my skin would feel and react with only using Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash and Lotion. As predicated, my skin was dry and itchy.
On night two, I showered with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash and used Olay In-Shower Body Lotion right before exiting the shower. I used the product as suggested and my skin felt nice and smooth after towel drying. My skin felt so smooth in fact, it felt like I had on lotion. I opted to sit around without moisturizing with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion to see if Olay In-Shower Body Lotion would live up to the hype. Unfortunately, it did not. My skin became dry about an hour later and it started to itch. Applying my Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion calmed the itching, thankfully.
On night three, I showered with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash and used Olay In-Shower Body Lotion before exiting the shower and then followed up with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion — my skin felt amazing and did not itch! I continued using this combination upon returning home and here’s what I’ve concluded — the Olay In-Shower Body Lotion locks in moisture for about an hour before I have to apply Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This gives me enough time to hop out of the shower and do whatever without having to slap on lotion before my skin dries out. This is very helpful on wash day with getting in and out of the shower! It does not, however, provide enough moisture where I do not have to apply lotion post-shower.
My New Process: Showering with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash, using Olay In-Shower Body Lotion before exiting the shower and then following up with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion is now my staple process and my skin has enjoyed that thoroughly at home and especially while on travel. No more itchy, dry, skin!!!
If you haven’t noticed, I’m totally in love with this product because the added hydration it provides while in-shower gives me that much more hydration after I’m out of the shower. Hopefully you’ll be equally as lucky if you give it a try!
I love it so much, I’m actually on my 3rd bottle!
Random: My husband gave it a try a couple of times to see what the hype was about and he was able to use the Olay In-Shower Body Lotion without applying additional lotion post-shower. Unfortunately, I’m not that lucky.
What’s your remedy for dry, itchy, skin?
