I really have to push myself to achieve my daily water intake in cooler months. In the summer, it’s automatic. I guzzle about a gallon a day. In cooler months, not so much because I’m not as thirsty.
Hydrating inside out is so important to our overall health that Jen and I decided to do a water challenge. For me, this challenge is not even about hair. It’s about total body health.
Water plays an important role in my ability to lead a normal, pain-free life. You see, my medical history is such that if I skimp on water, my body will retaliate and do mean things. Can we say acne breakouts, urine infections, kidney infections, headaches, muscle cramps & strains, fatigue, etc.
As you can see, I’ve experienced a range of side effects from lack of water. The most frightening? Being told I had kidney stones. Thankfully, it was later deemed a false positive but of course not before enduring many painful exams. This ordeal made me realize the importance of water even more.
Water is magical if we just give it a chance. I assure you, the benefits are varied and great: healthier hair, clearer skin, stronger nails and better total body health.
Let’s drink our way to better health. I’m committed to drinking my usual gallon of water, even in the cooler months. What water intake are you committed to?
